Peaceful Embrace explores what happens in the moment when two people hold each other close and the boundary between self and other begins to dissolve.

The skin is a border we rarely question — the edge of the self, the beginning of everything else. But in a loving embrace, that certainty blurs. This sculpture captures the moment of melting: two people so close they are no longer quite two. The sculpture seeks to explore through form an idea that we experience intuitively but cannot articulate easily: how the act of intimacy undermines the borders of the self and, in turn, our understanding of the self

An early work, inspired by falling in love with her future husband, Peaceful Embrace sits at the intersection of the emotional and the scientific — a felt experience rendered in form.
