Embryonic Heart Development Series: CS6 – Heart Embryonic Heart Development Series:
CS6 – Heart Cells Migrating 2
Ink and chalk pencil

The embryonic Heart Development series is a series of drawings that show how the heart is developing in the embryos in the very early stages of human development (Carnegie Stage 6 through to 10). The heart is the first organ to develop. Without it the embryo couldn't get any bigger as oxygen wouldn't be able diffuse across it fast enough. In this drawing the heart cells that start forming either side of the primitive streak in CS6, start to migrate through the streak and down into the mesoderm of the embryo.

Always great to see other people's photos of my wo Always great to see other people's photos of my work, here is Layers of Bournemouth. Its construction over 9 days in 2018 was witnessed by 30,000 people. 80 passers by both adults and children helped in the creation. 19 volunteers spent an average of 1.1 days each helping dig the earth, mix it, ram it into a large box or even help in the unveiling of the finished sculpture. It continues to have 600,000 visitors a year, although 2020 might not be quite so high. I hope it still brings interest and joy to the local residents who are still able to visit it.

I had been ramping up to teach a figure sculpture I had been ramping up to teach a figure sculpture and casting course online for the Art Academy London, sadly too many of my student were either stuck abroad with no materials or too busy with children at home so we had to cancel. It was a great exercise to redesign the course for zoom so I'm a bit sad not to do it and find out what works. But I'm also a bit relieved as I have 3 children at home and my parents (normal childcare) only get their vaccines this Sunday so still not yet safe to help. See post below from our principle @robpepper
However I’m still teaching professional development to the 2nd and 3rd years over zoom and had a really great 3 hour peer mentoring session this afternoon with the 3rd years. The students really put a lot of effort in, and it played off with 3 really useful action learning sets. So great that these sessions can work so well over zoom.

What a crazy few weeks!

In many ways lockdown 3 feels like going back to last March. However this time @artacademylonodn we are now ready to run our skills classes online. I want to thank the amazing Academic Team for their ability to move classes online and for the tutors for being ready for the challenge. Good luck and we can’t wait to see how you all get on.

There are still a few places available on sone of these courses from exploring current trends in portrait painting to textiles and assemblage. Take a look at https://artacademy.org.uk/part-time/
Merry Christmas all. Social media has just reminde Merry Christmas all. Social media has just reminded me that on this day 6 years ago my cousin sent me this snap of Cotswold Life @cotswoldlife featuring me with the amazing sculptor Eilis O'Connell @eilisoconnell_sculptor and also featuring 'The Thief' by @davidmachra
It was from the private view of Cruscible2 at @gloucestercathedral organised by @pangolineditions and @gallerypangolin

I wonder if I make other appearances in the society pages and just never find out 😂
