Sibling Hands
If your children are already past the baby stage, it’s not too late to get a casting done. Or if you are having a second or third child, you might not want to leave out the older siblings. In this case having a ‘holding hands’ cast done might be just what you want.
Above is a cast of a 4 ½ year old holding his younger brother’s hand (1 year old). It has a verdigris finish which is a real chemical patina, but they can also be done in dark bronze or silver effect finish.
The children need to hold hands, and then their hands are submerged into the casting material. It is very hard to know what happens once the hands are out of sight, so this kind of work is always a bit of a gamble but always seem to give us a wonderful surprise. Two casts are taken, and the nicest is selected to be finished.
Most children find the process great fun, and I like to involved them in what I am doing so they don’t worry about putting their hands in the warm goo.
A pair of holding hands (all children under 9 years) cost £350. If both casts come out well, you will be offered the second cast for £200. Older children can also be cast, but a supplement is charged as a lot more material is needed.
All prices include a home visit to take the casts, free engraving and delivery of completed artworks in south westLondon. If you are further afield I am happy to do casts but will need to charge additional travel and costs or you can visit me in my Fulham studio (at the end of theKings Road).
