Plastic Mountain project
Our Story
Planet STEAM is a not-for-profit company limited by guarantee.
Our purpose is to help people of all ages and backgrounds to understand and appreciate science by creating public artworks which explain today’s world and the complicated threats and opportunities we face as a society.
We produce high-quality participatory art projects which reach out to local people, including the underrepresented, vulnerable and disadvantaged.
Our projects use STEAM – Art in the centre of the STEM subjects of Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths – to educate and to promote social and environmental justice.
Our projects create focal points in our public spaces that people can build emotional connections to, thus improving our environment, communities and mental health.
What We Do
Public Art
Temporary and permanent public artworks to create high quality and meaningful art in people’s everyday lives
Participatory ARt
Projects which allow people of all ages and backgrounds to meaningfully participate in the creation of community art projects
Workshops
in Schools, Community Groups and public places involving a combination of Art with STEM subjects
Campaigning
Increase understanding and appreciation of science and improve social and environmental justice through art

Plastic Mountain
Plastic Mountain is a participatory public artwork to raise awareness of the plastic issue
In July 2023, West Norwood will come together to create a
temporary sculpture made of earth with embedded litter to raise awareness of the problems of plastic pollution.
