A photoshop montage of my proposed cob DNA sculpture. I had a great meeting with the client last week and left the maquettes and proposals with them. Fingers crossed they say yes as I've got really emotionally attached to these ideas and really want to make them happen.The proposed sculpture brings DNA's intricate molecular structure to life, transforming scientific precision into an artistic narrative of human connection. Rising through a STEM research building's stairwell, the 400-million-times-life-size artwork uses hand-sculpted cob figures to represent the double helix, symbolizing humanity's origins from earth and the cyclical nature of life. Join me this Friday at the Tiny Studio
I'll be in full view in a gallery window just behind the Tate ModernExcited to share that I'll be working on a new sculpture project this Friday at the Art Academy's Tiny Studio, situated behind Tate Modern. From 9am-5pm, I'll be creating a test piece for a larger sculpture using cob - an ancient building material of clay, sand, straw, and earth.The piece explores ideas of collaboration and modern science, drawing inspiration from the structure of the DNA helix. Working in full view of passersby, this project offers a unique glimpse into an artist's process.You're welcome to visit throughout the day to observe, discuss the work, and view other pieces currently exhibited in our gallery. Available works can be purchased, with proceeds supporting our new Bankside Campus development.As someone who started as one of the Art Academy's first students in 2001 and now leads the Professional Development Programme, I'm proud to be part of an institution that bridges artistic excellence with practical career development. So lovely to see @clareeburnett's sculptures installed as part of Sculpture in the City @sculptureinthecity this year. A big thanks to @royal_sculptors for organising a fantastic guided tour of all the works (and this photo I've pinched from their gram). Great connecting and reconnecting to some of the lovely and talented scuptor members of the society.
